We are building on our 35-year track record of transformative global education by expanding our reach and impact. Go Global NC demonstrates our movement beyond understanding toward action as we empower North Carolina with the skills, understanding, connections, and knowledge to succeed in a global community.

What’s different? We have a beautiful new logo designed by the advertising agency Anoroc. We have a new name that both current and new partners can remember. We also have an amazing new website thanks to support from Common Impact and countless volunteer hours from a team of programmers and designers at Fidelity Investments: www.goglobalnc.org. Our commitment to build connections that bring opportunities to all North Carolinians is now grounded in implementing the nation’s first Blueprint for Global Engagement. All of our education and training efforts support this roadmap to position N.C. globally as a great place to invest, study, work, partner, and live.

What’s the same? Our strong global programs are what we’re known for and those will continue to be a core focus: Latino Initiative, Global Leaders, China Programs, and Global Teachers. Importantly, just as we have been since our founding in 1979, we remain part of The University of North Carolina, a world-class, 17-campus university system.

Mission: Our mission is connecting North Carolina to the world and the world to North Carolina. We look forward to working with policy, education, and business leaders across the state who are focused on making North Carolina the most globally engaged state in the nation.

Latino Initiative: Law Enforcement 2016

Officers from Mecklenburg and Union Counties traveled to Mexico in September 2016 for the first Latino Initiative program focused on law enforcement. The 24 officers from all ranks traveled with the goal of better understanding the Hispanic and Latino communities they serve in North Carolina. In addition to traveling in Mexico City to learn about the culture and history of Mexico, the group visited a correctional facility in San Miguel de Allende and a state surveillance and command center in Silao. The delegation also visited families in the community of San Nicolás del Carmen. Participants returned to the United States with a belief that cross-cultural understanding is key to effective community policing.
